Sharing Topic 5: The Laws on Imported Toys

CE Marking is a new policy by United Kingdom government to regulate all toys in the direction to meet necessary safety requirements. Since, more than 80% of toy's market in the country comes from China, and the authorities were looking for a solution to ensure and protect children safety; for these reasons, imported and local made toys have to be labelled with CE Marking as a confirmation from the producer whom its toys meet all the safety requirements. In addition, this policy is not only applied for the new products but also for the toys that are already in the markets. Furthermore, the authorities issued a toys' list of what is and isn’t following the instructions; which is a sign to avoid any toy without CE label. However, this label doesn’t represent how the quality of the toys is. It’s only shows that the toys have met all the safety requirements only.

Assignment 1: Obama Vows Support for GM Restructuring

General Motors, the largest car industry in the world, put its future in doubt after several terrible management decisions during the financial crisis. Therefore, to put GM back on its feet, United States government helped GM with $20 billion to start planning and reorganising. Interestingly, Barack Obama, the president of United States, hoped that GM would be saved from this collapse, and he promised them for another $30 billion to recover. Moreover, Obama has noted that GM’s foreign operations will be also assisting, and he emphasised, that the future of GM and its thousands of American staff will be on the top of his responsibility. In fact, Obama believes that GM can lead his country to an energy independent future by making the high quality cars, and it can be again a symbol of success. On the other hand, republicans and White House officials made it clear that they must limit government’s generosity, and it’s the last opportunity for GM to survive. All in all, Obama has a trustworthy plan to save GM from bankruptcy, and he knows that they cannot make it work without the government's aid.
